What are managed profiles?

Managed profiles are accounts you oversee on behalf of someone else, such as a child. When you set up a child's account in Fynbos, their profile appears alongside your accounts, allowing you to manage their savings from your own app.

  • Separate finances: Each profile has its own accounts, balances, and transactions

  • Easy access: Switch between profiles without logging out

  • Full control: View balances, transfer money in, and manage settings for each profile

Managed profiles appear on your home screen and in the sidebar navigation, making it easy to monitor everyone's savings in one place.

Accessing the profile switcher

On desktop, the profile switcher appears in the sidebar navigation at the top. On mobile, you can access it through the navigation menu.

Desktop (sidebar)

  1. Look at the top of the sidebar navigation

  2. Tap your name to open the profile switcher dropdown

  3. Select the profile you want to switch to

Mobile

  1. Navigate to Settings

  2. Tap Switch profile to expand the profile list

  3. Tap the profile you want to manage

  1. Open the profile switcher dropdown

  2. Select the child's name from the list

  3. The app reloads with their profile active

A coloured banner appears at the top of the screen confirming you're managing someone else's account. The banner displays the message "You're managing [Name]'s account. Click to stop managing."

What you can do while managing a profile

When managing a child's profile, you have access to their accounts and can perform most actions on their behalf.

Available actions:

  • View all account balances and transactions

  • Transfer money into their accounts

  • View their portfolio breakdown

  • Access their account details

Not available while managing:

  • Creating new accounts (return to your profile first)

  • Certain settings changes

The profile view shows the child's accounts, their portfolio card with balance breakdown, and action buttons for transferring money in or switching back to your profile.

Returning to your own profile

You can return to your own profile at any time using either the profile switcher or the coloured banner.

Using the banner

  1. Tap anywhere on the coloured banner at the top of the screen
