Adding money via EFT
Last updated: 19 Jan 2026
What is an EFT deposit?
An EFT (electronic funds transfer) is a manual bank transfer from your personal bank account to your Fynbos account. This is ideal for:
Once-off deposits: Add money whenever you want, with no recurring commitment
Large transfers: Move significant amounts without debit order limits
Flexible timing: Deposit on your own schedule
EFT deposits land in your Cash account, where you can transfer them to other accounts or let automation rules distribute them automatically.
Finding your bank details
Every Fynbos user has a unique reference number that identifies your deposits. You can find your banking details in the app.
From your home screen, tap Add money
Select Manual EFT
Tap Continue
Enter the amount you plan to deposit (optional, for your records)
Tap Continue
Your EFT details screen displays:
Unique reference: Your personal reference number (required for every deposit)
Bank: The receiving bank name
Account type: The type of bank account
Account number: The account number to transfer to
Tap the reference or account number to copy it to your clipboard. You can also share these details directly from the app.
Making an EFT deposit
Once you have your Fynbos banking details, complete the transfer from your bank.
Log in to your personal bank (app or internet banking)
Navigate to Payments or Transfers
Select Pay new beneficiary or Once-off payment
Enter the Fynbos account details:
Account holder name: Fynbos
Bank: As shown in the app
Account number: As shown in the app
Reference: Your unique reference number
Enter the amount you want to deposit
Confirm and submit the payment
Your payment will be processed within 1-2 business days.
Important: Always use your unique reference number as the payment reference. Without it, we cannot identify your payment and it may be delayed.
Processing times
EFT deposits typically take 1-2 business days to reflect in your Cash account. The exact time depends on:
Your bank's processing schedule: Some banks process transfers faster than others
Time of day: Transfers made after banking cut-off times may process the next business day
Weekends and public holidays: Transfers are not processed on non-business days
Once your deposit arrives, you'll receive a notification in the app. The funds will appear in your Cash account, ready to transfer or distribute via automation rules.
Important requirements
To ensure your EFT deposit is processed correctly:
Deposit from your own bank account: Transfers from third-party accounts are not accepted. This is a regulatory requirement to prevent money laundering.
No cash deposits: Branch cash deposits are not accepted. Only electronic bank transfers are supported.
Use your unique reference: Every deposit must include your unique reference number. Deposits without a reference may be delayed while we manually identify them.
