  • Current value: See what your investments are worth today based on the latest unit prices

  • Performance tracking: Monitor how your investments have grown or declined over time

  • Strategy alignment: Compare your actual allocation to your target strategy

Your holdings appear in Tax-Free Savings accounts and Investment accounts.

Time period options:

  • 3M: Last 3 months

Understanding gains and losses

Your gain or loss represents the difference between what you paid for your investments and what they're worth today.

Gain = Current value - Purchase cost

  • Positive gain: Your investments have grown in value (shown in green with an up arrow)

  • Negative gain: Your investments have declined in value (shown with a down arrow)

What this means for you:

  • Gains are unrealised until you sell your holdings

  • Market values fluctuate daily based on fund performance

  • Long-term investing typically smooths out short-term volatility

Important: Gains shown are unrealised. You only lock in a profit or loss when you sell your holdings. Daily fluctuations are normal and expected with investment accounts.

Viewing account performance

Your account shows overall performance across all holdings combined.

At the top of your account screen, you'll see:

  • Total balance: The combined value of all your holdings

  • Contribution summary: How much you've contributed over the selected period

  • Total gain: Your overall profit or loss across all holdings

Toggle between Balance and Contribution views to see:

  • Balance: The actual market value of your investments over time

  • Contribution: The total amount you've invested over time

The gap between these lines represents your investment returns.

Checking allocation vs strategy

Each holding shows how your actual allocation compares to your target strategy.

The percentage display (e.g., "45% -> 50%") means:

  • First number (45%): Your current allocation in this fund

  • Arrow: Direction towards your target

  • Second number (50%): Your target allocation from your strategy

When you make new contributions, Fynbos invests according to your strategy to help bring your actual allocation closer to your target over time.
