Age-based discounts make Protea more affordable for younger members.

If you're under 30, you get 50% off Protea, applied automatically from your date of birth, with nothing to claim.

Under-18s get Protea for free. Children don't have their own login. Their accounts are opened and managed from a parent's account. So the free discount applies to each child you add to your family: they get the full Protea experience at no charge until they turn 18.

You can now add money with Capitec Pay. Choose it at checkout, and you'll receive a push notification in your Capitec banking app - approve it there and your deposit lands immediately.

There's no EFT to wait on and no card or account number to type in. Capitec Pay is a once-off deposit method, so it's ideal for topping up whenever you want to invest.

Capitec Pay joins manual EFT and debit orders as ways to fund your Fynbos accounts.

A new retirement annuity calculator helps you see how today's contributions could grow by the time you retire.

Adjust your monthly contribution and time horizon to see a projected balance at retirement, along with an estimate of the drawdown income it could provide. The calculator uses long-run return assumptions to model growth over time.

Your inputs are saved to the page link, so you can share a scenario or come back to it later.

You can now personalise your accounts. When you create a Savings pot or Discretionary account - or open the new account settings page - pick a custom icon and colour so each account is easy to recognise at a glance.

Each account now has a settings page where you can rename it, change its icon and colour, or delete it when you no longer need it.

Your personalisations carry through the app, so your dashboard reflects how you think about your money.

From the 2027 tax year, which starts on 1 March 2026, the annual tax-free savings contribution limit is now R46,000 - up from R36,000.

Your TFSA contribution tracking updates automatically, so the amount you can still contribute this tax year reflects the new limit. Automation rules that top up your TFSA use the updated figure too.

Contributing above the annual limit triggers tax penalties, so Fynbos continues to track your contributions against the limit for you.

Retirement annuity accounts are now available to all Fynbos users. The RA is no longer in limited beta - you can open one straight from your dashboard.

Once your RA is open, choose an investment strategy, set up automation rules to contribute every month, and nominate beneficiaries to receive the account if you pass away.

Contributions to your RA are tax-deductible up to the annual limit, and your investments grow free of tax on interest, dividends, and capital gains.

You now have more control over your investment strategy.

Choose from curated strategies, pre-built portfolios like Conservative, Balanced, or Growth, or build a custom allocation by selecting funds and setting your own percentages.

The redesigned strategy flow lets you:

Your strategy determines how new money gets invested. When you transfer money into an investment account, we create buy orders based on your current allocation.

Each account has its own strategy - your TFSA and Investment accounts can all have different allocations.

You can now open an Investment account.

Unlike TFSAs, there's no contribution limit; invest as much as you want. Unlike retirement products, you can access your money anytime by selling holdings and withdrawing.

Choose your investment strategy from curated options or build a custom allocation from available funds. When you transfer money in, we automatically create buy orders based on your strategy.

Track your portfolio with performance charts and download account statements for your records.

Note: Discretionary accounts don't have the tax benefits of TFSAs or retirement products. Gains are subject to capital gains tax, and dividends are taxable.

All accounts now display performance charts, allowing you to track returns over time.

View your portfolio's growth across different periods: 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, tax years or all time. The chart displays your portfolio value over time, taking into account contributions, growth, dividends, and withdrawals.

At a glance, see your current value, total gains, and percentage return for the selected period.

Performance charts are available on TFSA, Discretionary accounts, Emergency Savings, and Savings Pots.

You can now sign in with passkeys instead of one-time passwords.

Passkeys use your device's built-in security (Face ID, Touch ID, or PIN) to authenticate you instantly. No more waiting for WhatsApp or SMS codes.

Passkeys are more secure than OTPs because they can't be phished or intercepted. They're cryptographically bound to your device and our servers.

If you use iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager, your passkeys sync across all your devices automatically. Sign in on your phone, tablet, or computer with the same passkey.

To set up a passkey, go to Settings → Passkeys → Register passkey. OTP authentication remains available as a fallback option.

You can now open accounts for your children and manage them from your dashboard.

Children get an entire Fynbos profile, allowing you to create different accounts on their behalf. Children automatically get a Protea subscription when their parent has an active subscription.

Switch between profiles to view your children's balances, make transfers, and manage their investments. Set up automation rules to automatically distribute money to your children's accounts when deposits arrive.

Transfer money between your accounts and your children's accounts. As the parent, you have full control over their accounts until they turn 18.

You can now create Savings pots for different savings goals.

Each pot is a separate account with its own name and target amount. Create pots for holidays, home deposits, big purchases, or anything else you're saving towards. Track progress for each goal individually instead of managing one lump sum.

Fund your pots by transferring from Cash, or add them to your automation rules to split deposits automatically. Unlike investment accounts, Savings Pots offer instant liquidity - transfer money back to Cash and withdraw whenever you need it.

Create as many pots as you need. Delete a pot when you've reached your goal or no longer need it.

When money lands in your Cash account via debit order or EFT, your rules execute automatically. Choose from three rule types:

• Percentage rules - allocate a percentage of each deposit (e.g., 50% to Emergency Savings).

• Amount rules - transfer a fixed rand amount (e.g., R1,000 to TFSA).

• Target rules - fill an account to a specific balance before moving to the next rule.

Drag to reorder your rules and set which accounts get funded first. Before saving, you can preview exactly how your next deposit will be distributed across accounts.

Not sure where to start? Choose from preset configurations designed for common savings goals.

You can now set up monthly debit orders to automate your savings contributions.

Choose your debit amount and collection date; most people set this for shortly after payday. We'll send you a reminder notification before each collection so you're never caught off guard.

Once your deposit arrives, it's automatically distributed across your accounts based on your automation rules. Your Emergency Savings, TFSA, and other accounts get funded without manual transfers.

You can pause or cancel your debit order at any time from your settings.

Fynbos is officially live. You can now open your first accounts and start
building towards your financial goals.

Emergency savings

Build your financial safety net with a dedicated Emergency savings account.
Set a target amount for your emergency fund and track your progress as you
save. The account shows your current balance against your goal, so you always
know how close you are to being fully funded.

Your emergency savings earn competitive interest rates while remaining
instantly accessible when you need the money. We'll send you WhatsApp
notifications when you hit milestones and when interest is credited to your
account.

Tax-free savings account

Invest up to R36,000 per year (with a R500,000 lifetime limit) and pay no
tax on any growth. No capital gains tax on sales, no dividends tax on
distributions - your returns are completely tax-free.

Choose from a curated range of investment funds, including low-cost index
trackers and actively managed funds from South African asset managers. We
automatically track your annual and lifetime contributions to help you stay
within the limits.

Unlike retirement products, you can withdraw from your TFSA at any time if you
need access to your money.
