# Managing your debit order

## Viewing your debit order

Your debit order appears in the **Upcoming deposits** section on the *Cash* account screen.

1. From your home screen, tap **Cash**
2. Find the debit order card in the **Upcoming deposits** section

The card shows:

- **Payment method**: The type of payment (e.g., Debit order)
- **Next date**: When your next debit order will run (or "Paused" if paused)
- **Amount**: How much will be debited
- **Status badge**: Shows "Paused" if paused, or "Action required" if setup is incomplete

Tap the card to open a detail sheet with all management options.

## Debit order detail sheet

Tapping a debit order card opens a sheet with full details and actions.

The sheet shows:

- **Amount**: Your monthly debit order amount
- **Bank details**: Account holder, bank name, account type, and account number
- **Arrives**: Your next collection date
- **Schedule active**: A toggle to pause or resume the debit order
- **Apply automation rules**: A toggle to enable or disable automation rules for this deposit

At the bottom, you can:

- **Edit debit order**: Change the amount, bank account, or collection day
- **Delete**: Permanently remove the debit order

## Editing your debit order

You can change your debit order amount, collection day, or automation rules at any time.

1. Navigate to your *Cash* account
2. Tap the debit order card in **Upcoming deposits**
3. Tap **Edit debit order** in the detail sheet
4. Update any of the following on the configuration page:
  - **Amount**: Enter a new monthly amount
  - **Day of the month**: Choose a new collection day
  - **Automation rules**: Toggle on or off
5. Tap **Update payment** to confirm your changes

Your updated debit order settings take effect from your next scheduled collection date.

## Pausing your debit order

If you need to skip one or more months, you can pause your debit order without deleting it.

1. Navigate to your *Cash* account
2. Tap the debit order card in **Upcoming deposits**
3. In the detail sheet, toggle **Schedule active** to off

**What this means for you**:

- No funds will be debited until you resume
- Your debit order settings are preserved
- Resume anytime by toggling back on

## Pause deadlines

To pause a specific month's debit order, you must act before the deadline.

The deadline is **12:00 noon on the day before** your scheduled debit date. For example:

| Debit date | Pause deadline |
| --- | --- |
| 1st of the month | 12:00 noon on the last day of the previous month |
| 15th of the month | 12:00 noon on the 14th |
| 25th of the month | 12:00 noon on the 24th |

If you pause after the deadline, your current month's debit will still run. The pause takes effect from the following month. The app displays a message showing when you need to re-enable your debit order for it to run on the next scheduled date.

> **Important**: If you need to stop an imminent debit order, ensure you pause before 12:00 noon the day before. Pausing after this time will not prevent the upcoming collection.

## Resuming your debit order

When you're ready to restart your contributions, resume your debit order with a single tap.

1. Navigate to your *Cash* account
2. Tap the debit order card in **Upcoming deposits**
3. In the detail sheet, toggle **Schedule active** to on

A confirmation message appears: "Debit order resumed."

The same deadline rules apply to resuming. To ensure collection on a specific date, resume before 12:00 noon the day before.

## Toggling automation rules

You can control whether automation rules apply to a specific debit order deposit.

1. Navigate to your *Cash* account
2. Tap the debit order card in **Upcoming deposits**
3. In the detail sheet, toggle **Apply automation rules** on or off

When enabled, your automation rules will distribute the deposit automatically when it arrives. When disabled, the full deposit stays in your Cash account for you to manage manually.

## Deleting your debit order

To permanently stop your debit order:

1. Navigate to your *Cash* account
2. Tap the debit order card in **Upcoming deposits**
3. Tap **Delete** at the bottom of the detail sheet

Your debit order will be removed immediately. You can set up a new debit order at any time from the *Add money* screen.

## Frequesntly asked questions

### Can I change my debit order amount anytime?

Yes. From your Cash account, tap the debit order card in the Upcoming deposits section, then tap Edit debit order. Update the amount and tap Update payment. Changes take effect from your next scheduled collection date.

### What happens if I pause after the deadline?

If you pause after 12:00 noon the day before your scheduled debit, the current month's debit will still run. The pause takes effect from the following month.

### Why is there a 40-day hold on debit order funds?

To protect against fraud, funds collected via debit order cannot be withdrawn for 40 days after they are invested. This is a security measure required by payment regulations.

### Can I have multiple debit orders?

No, you can only have one active debit order at a time. If you need to change your contribution amount, use the change debit order feature.

### What happens to my debit order if my bank rejects it?

If your bank rejects a debit order (insufficient funds, account closed, etc.), you'll be notified in the app. Your debit order remains active and will attempt to collect again next month. If rejections continue, your linked bank account may require re-verification.
