# Notification preferences ## Overview Fynbos sends notifications to keep you updated on your accounts, investments, and important activity. You control which notifications you receive and when they're delivered. - **Two channels**: Receive notifications via WhatsApp (primary) and email - **Category control**: Enable or disable specific notification types - **Scheduled delivery**: Set quiet hours to receive notifications only when convenient WhatsApp is your default notification channel. Important updates that don't fall into specific categories are sent via WhatsApp. ## Notification channels Fynbos supports two notification channels, each configured separately. | Channel | Description | Best for | | --- | --- | --- | | **WhatsApp** | Messages sent to your registered mobile number | Instant alerts, transaction confirmations | | **Email** | Messages sent to your verified email address | Documents, detailed reports, marketing | You can enable or disable each channel independently. Even with email notifications disabled, you'll still receive WhatsApp messages for critical account updates. ## Accessing notification settings You can manage notification preferences for WhatsApp and email from the *Settings* page. 1. Tap the **Settings** icon in the navigation menu 2. Under the notifications section, tap **WhatsApp notifications** or **Email notifications** The settings page shows the current status for each channel, indicating whether notifications are enabled or paused. ## Enabling or disabling a notification channel You can turn an entire notification channel on or off with a single toggle. 1. Navigate to *Settings* and tap **WhatsApp notifications** or **Email notifications** 2. At the top of the page, locate the **Enable notifications** toggle 3. Tap the toggle to enable or disable notifications for this channel When disabled, you won't receive any notifications through that channel. WhatsApp notifications show your registered phone number beneath the toggle. Email notifications show your verified email address with an option to update it. > **Important**: For email notifications, you must verify your email address before you can enable them. Tap your email address to update or verify it. ## Notification categories Notifications are organised into categories. You can enable or disable each category independently while keeping the overall channel enabled. ### General notifications | Category | Description | | --- | --- | | **Debit order** | Advanced warning before your debit order runs | | **Money available** | Alerts when you have uninvested cash that needs attention | | **Investments** | Updates whenever an investment transaction occurs | | **Referrals** | Notifications when someone signs up using your referral | | **Documents** | Alerts when new statements or documents are ready | ### Marketing notifications | Category | Description | | --- | --- | | **New features** | Updates when Fynbos releases new functionality | | **Customer research** | Invitations to provide feedback on future features | | **Getting started** | Helpful tips as you begin your savings journey | ## Changing category preferences Customise which notification types you receive within each channel. 1. Navigate to the notification settings for your chosen channel 2. Scroll to **General notifications** or **Marketing notifications** 3. Locate the category you want to change 4. Tap the toggle next to the category to enable or disable it Category toggles are disabled when the entire notification channel is turned off. Enable the channel first to adjust individual categories. ## Setting up a notification schedule Use the schedule feature to control when notifications are delivered. This prevents messages from arriving during times you don't want to be disturbed. 1. Navigate to the notification settings for your chosen channel 2. Locate the **Schedule** card 3. Tap the toggle to enable scheduling 4. Select which days of the week to receive notifications by tapping the day buttons (M, T, W, T, F, S, S) 5. Set your preferred **From** time using the time picker 6. Set your preferred **To** time using the time picker 7. Tap **Save** to apply your schedule Notifications sent outside your scheduled hours are held and delivered when your scheduled window opens. ## Schedule examples Here are common scheduling patterns: | Use case | Days | Times | | --- | --- | --- | | **Work hours only** | Monday to Friday | 09:00 to 17:00 | | **Evenings only** | All days | 18:00 to 22:00 | | **Weekday mornings** | Monday to Friday | 07:00 to 09:00 | Set your schedule based on when you're most likely to action notifications. You can disable the schedule at any time by toggling it off.
